If you put that money into that RRSP, you would either be paying that $4800 more on top of what you would have already owed... alternatively, if you had been expecting a refund, you would be getting $4800 LESS than you would with that RRSP contribution. It is rather confusing. It does come off your "total" income, resulting in your "net". This reduces your taxable income by this amount because you are not paying taxes on the amount that was taken off for your RRSP contributions. It is just taken off sooner in the calculation. RRSP contributions do still reduce your taxable income.I hope this helps you to understand a little better. Now confused. lol =)

People say "tax refund" for because the tax "savings" is like getting a "refund" of whatever taxes you paid on that income at source – before it was put into an RRSP. Back then they taught us that people need...in order of water, (2) food, (3) clothing, (4) shelter. Everything else is a bonus. If it were me, I would pick-up some water purification tablets and make them central to my survival kit. Then, some bottled water.Next, rule-out canned foods. Limited shelf-life? You must believe what people tell you. I I have canned food in my basement that is 5 years old and very edible. I also keep a box with a 4 week supply of canned food in it for emergencies. had blizzards in the that kept me inside for up to a full week, so that of supply comes in handy. If you are really worried about its freshness, simply rotate your emergency supply once a year. (Put the old stuff in the pantry for immediate use and refill the box with new cans.)Oh yeah, and another thing. Some of the MRE foods have fillers in them that are meant to make you constipated. They do this so that soldiers that have just eaten feel an immediate need to relieve their bowels during combat. But after days of eating this stuff, it of creates a problem. A better option is the canned food route.Warm clothing is Wool is best. Also a rain poncho that can be used as an emergency shelter. I could go on and on here, but just use some common sense. Hat, shirt, pants with billowed pockets. The thing really "cool" to think that you can run about the streets or an urban landscape with your weapons and forage for food. The only problem is, there is probably someone else that was a scout sniper in Iraq that has a high-powered rifle with with a scope, and pointed at you from 200 yards away. And he gonna like it when he sees an armed stranger coming near his position.

I took some survival training courses decades ago. A kit should be designed to contain the things you are most likely to need in the event of a disaster. If you live in a hurricane area, maybe not a tent, but a tarp to spread on some patch of dry land or roof. Everything in it should be in a waterproof container. The minimum is water, food, crankable radio, light source.

The point is _to take it with you_, not to go back for it. There are some very nice prepackaged survival kits on the market these days. They typically divide their contents into 6 or 7 categories: Food & Water, Shelter, Light & Communications, First Aid, Sanitation, Search and Resue and Packaging. It looks like you have added a "Defense" category. Here is an example of in a typical 4 person- 3 day disaster survival kit:
FOOD & WATER
(4) ER™ Food Bars
(12) ER™ Water Boxes w/ Straws
(50) ER™ Water Purification Tablets
SHELTER
(4) ER™ Emergency Blankets
(4) ER™ Ponchos With Hood
LIGHTING & COMMUNICATION
(1) AM/FM Radio
(1) Shake Light
(1) ER™ Green Lightstick
FIRST AID
(1) Medium Sized First Aid Kit
SEARCH & RESCUE
(1) Safety Whistle
(4) Dust Masks
(1) Pair Vinyl Gloves
SANITATION
(1) Snap-on Toilet Seat (optional)
(4) Tissue Packs
PACKAGING
(1) ER™ 5 Gallon Bucket ContainerThe food and water in these kits is just enough to survive - you are not going to feel like you just left McDonalds so I would pack more food and water. After reading many survival type websites, another recurring idea is to have lots of cash on hand. This seems to be the first thing to run-out during a disaster.Good luck!

Most commercial survival kits are meant to keep you alive for 72 hours or so. You would consider the income taxable in the year you received the funds (i.e. the check date). For example, if you earned the money in 2005 but were not paid the wages until 2006 (check date 1/1/2006) the income is taxable in 2006.

The IRS does not consider wages taxable until they are constructively received. For both tax purposes and ensuring the bike is listed in your name, you want to make sure the other is aware of this agreement.

Assuming you are going to claim ownership of the bike (not just making payments as a gift of some I strongly recommend going down to whatever dealer/ location he purchased it from and have the proper forms filled out transferring ownerships and title to your name. The credit bureaus frown on creditors removing legitimate info and credit card companies rely on the completeness of credit There is no such thing as "goodwill" when it comes to the creditCredit card companies will often waive the late fees if a one time thing and you ask nicely. probably the "goodwill" you heard about.

It is extremely that any credit card will remove late payment from the credit bureaus.
